Christian has been congested since his first day of school. It has been impacting everyone's sleep. It has turned me into a nose wiping machine.
I was complaining to a fellow new mom, whose baby started school a few months ahead of CJ, and her reply was not a positive one at all. Am I really to expect that he will never be well again? Will I forever have to rub methylated gel upon him prior to bed? Will the mucus sucking bulb become my new best friend (and his as well now that he has figured out it really isn't a torture device)?
Well, there is also this to consider, besides starting a new school, he is in a new place. My mom kept telling me this last year "new place, new germs". You will have times when it seems like he is sick all the time, but teach him to wash his hands frequently and do what you can and it will be okay.
ReplyDeleteOwen started school in September 2009. He had a few colds - runny nose, congestion, etc. throughout the fall and spring. He has had a few very mild runny noses this school year, but knock on wood, he hasn't been sick in a LONG time! I don't think this will become your new normal - don't worry! I bet he'll be well in no time. And remember, the germs are great for his developing immune system:)
ReplyDeletePraying he is back to his healthy, happy self very soon!!!
He needs time to build up his immune system - it won't be over tomorrow, but there will be an end :-)
ReplyDeleteThe first year is the worst, then it is much better.
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies for the words of encouragement.
ReplyDeleteThe Nose Frida (they have them at Whole Foods) is waaaay better than a bulb syringe, in case you need one. Hope it gets better soon!
